Steels come in, cranked steel beam is hoisted up to the roof to make the clear profile of the new design

The Colyton Road project was a great opportunity for us to transform a cramped and outdated living space into a comfortable and functional home for a growing family. Our challenge was to create additional space without compromising the integrity of the original structure, and we looked to the loft area to achieve this goal.

Despite the restrictions posed by the original roof height, we were able to redistribute the first floor in a way that maximized the available space. We created a spacious and luxurious master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom, which offered privacy and comfort for the parents. For the children, we designed independent rooms that allowed them to have their own space while also providing ample storage for their belongings.

In the loft area, we were able to create a flexible space that served multiple functions. The modified steep slope of the eve allowed us to cleverly fit in an additional bathroom, through the clever structural design of a cranked beam. We also created a guest bedroom and art studio that provided the family with the flexibility to adapt the space to their needs.

Perhaps the most exciting feature of the loft area was the cinema room. Despite its relatively small size, we managed to design a space that was perfect for the whole family to gather and enjoy a night of movies. The room was equipped with comfortable seating and state-of-the-art sound and video equipment, providing an immersive movie experience that the family will cherish for years to come.
