The Old Vicarage, Private Residence Refurbishment  •  Northumberland, UK  •  Project 2011

The Old Vicarage in Northumberland is a magnificent Grade II listed Georgian property that is soon to be renovated to a high modern standard while preserving its core Georgian period features. The site is located on the outskirts of the village and boasts spectacular views towards the Cheviot Hills. The surrounding area is dotted with apple orchards, mixed woodlands and arable fields, crisscrossed by public footpaths. The house features a stunning south-facing formal garden in the French style. The proposed extension will be situated at the west end of the remarkable south elevation of the house. The church is located just west of the property, and the extension will offer views of the church and the graveyard. The proposed project involves removing an existing oil tank at the side of the property and creating a transition space from the garage on the lower level, stepping up to the kitchen at ground floor level. This glazed structure would include changing room and shower facilities, providing privacy at the lower level while allowing ample natural light into the space and offering uninterrupted views of the beautiful surroundings.
